Raw Local Honey From Our Family Farm
At DeSmidt Farms, we believe good things take time, hard work, and people who care about doing things well. What started as a small hobby in 2013 has grown into a thriving honey operation producing more than 120 gallons of raw, non-pasteurized honey each season.
Our Honey
Harvested from our hives in south-central Ohio, DeSmidt Farms Honey is raw, local honey thoughtfully blended for rich, balanced flavor — every jar carrying the flavors of Ohio and the work of friends who believe in quality, sustainability, and a little sweetness in life.
Meet the Beekeepers
Larry Hines — The MECHANIC with a Mission
Larry can fix anything—and he noticed something was broken. In 2010, standing in his yard and seeing clover in bloom but no bees in sight, he knew something had to change. After the loss of his son, Larry was inspired to make a positive impact on the ecosystem, one hive at a time. He turned his grief into purpose, becoming a passionate beekeeper determined to help bring pollinators back to the fields and fence rows around him.
Andrew DeSmidt — The Farmer with the Follow-Through
Larry passed the torch to his friend Andrew in 2013. What began as a few hives in the back field soon turned into something much bigger. Today, Andrew maintains over 60 hives with skill, care, and plenty of stories to tell. His work, along with support from his wife Sara, has helped shape DeSmidt Farms Honey into what it is today—a sweet testament to friendship, dedication, and bee-powered purpose.
Together, Larry and Andrew are the real worker bees behind it all. One can fix just about anything, the other never seems to sit still for long—but both share a love for local honey and the work that comes with it.
