About Us

Family-Owned. Friend-Made. Bee-Approved.

At DeSmidt Farms, we believe in doing things the right way—with care, intention, and a little help from our buzzing friends. What started as a small hobby in 2013 has grown into a thriving honey operation, producing over 120 gallons of pure, non-pasteurized honey each season. Nestled in Fayette County, Ohio, our honey is a true reflection of local flora, hard work, and friendship.

We’re proud to be a small, hands-on team dedicated to delivering the best nature has to offer—from hive to jar. Whether you're a lifelong honey enthusiast or just discovering the good stuff, we’re glad you’re here.

Meet the Worker Bees 🐝

Larry Hines — The MECHANIC with a Mission

Larry can fix anything—and he noticed something was broken. In 2010, standing in his yard and seeing clover in bloom but no bees in sight, he knew something had to change. After the loss of his son, Larry was inspired to make a positive impact on the ecosystem, one hive at a time. He turned his grief into purpose, becoming a passionate beekeeper and advocate for pollinators.

Andrew DeSmidt — The Farmer with the Follow-Through

Larry passed the torch to his friend Andrew in 2013. What began as a few hives in the backfield soon became a full-fledged passion project. Today, Andrew maintains 65 hives with skill, care, and plenty of stories to tell. His work, along with support from his wife Sara, has helped shape DeSmidt Farms Honey into what it is today—a sweet testament to friendship, dedication, and bee-powered purpose.

Together, Larry and Andrew are the real worker bees behind it all. One’s a master machinist, the other a devoted farmer—but both are powered by purpose and a love for local honey.
